St Joseph's Catholic Primary School

Love, Learn, Grow.

Welcome to Pentecost.

This half term we will be focussing on dinosaurs!

In English, we have started off with a dinosaur break in! We watched videos of the naughty dinosaur and are writing letters asking for help finding him!

We will be reading Dinosaurs and All That Rubbish and Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs. We will carry out lots of exciting writing tasks linked to these books. We will focus on writing a sentence with a capital letter, finger spaces and full stop.

In Topic we will explore different types of dinosaurs, we will be learning their names and looking at the different characteristics. We will also look at fossils and learn about the famous fossil finder, Mary Anning.

In RE we are learning what ‘Good News’ is and how coming together to share happiness and joy to celebrate the Good News of Jesus who kept his promise and sent the Holy Spirit to be our friend. We can all share in this happiness.

In Maths we will be looking at careful counting, number bonds to 10 and repeating patterns.

In Phonics we will moving onto phase 4, phase 4 looks at consonant blends. The children will be learning how to read and write CCVC, CVCC and two syllable words. We will continue to learn to read and write phase 3 tricky words.
