Geography

Geography is the study of places and the world. A geographer is someone who studies the world. They investigate the Earth’s physical features, such as mountains, deserts, rivers and oceans. They are also interested in the ways that people affect and are affected by the natural world.

There are three main areas in geography:

Locational knowledge

Place knowledge

Human and physical geography

In investigating location and place, with the use of maps, children will focus upon and learn about different areas of the world, comparing different places and regions.

Physical geographers study the land and how it has changed, focusing on how cities and towns have developed.

Human geographers study where people live, what they do, and how they use the land. They investigate the cultures of different peoples.

Here at St Joseph's, we want all our of pupils to be geographers.

Take a look through some of these websites and investigate the world!
