Attendance Committee

At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, we believe that every day in school matters. Good attendance is essential if children are to achieve their full academic, social and spiritual potential. Our Attendance Committee plays an important role in promoting and supporting excellent attendance across the school community.

The role of the committee members:

  • Promote the message that "Every Day Counts".
  • Encourage their peers to attend school regularly and arrive on time.
  • Help to organise and promote attendance initiatives, competitions and rewards.
  • Share ideas about how attendance can be improved across the school.
  • Gather pupil voice and feedback regarding attendance.
  • Support attendance campaigns through assemblies, newsletters and displays.
  • Act as positive role models by demonstrating excellent attendance and punctuality themselves.

Regular attendance helps children to:

  • Build strong friendships and positive relationships.
  • Develop confidence and resilience.
  • Access the full curriculum and avoid gaps in learning.
  • Participate fully in school life, including trips, clubs, sports and special events.
  • Develop habits that will support success in later life.

The Attendance Committee works closely with school leaders, staff and families to create a culture where attendance is valued and celebrated. Through their leadership, enthusiasm and commitment, they help ensure that every child understands the importance of being present, engaged and ready to learn each day.

Together, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to Love, Learn and Grow through excellent attendance.
