Peer Mentors
The Peer Mentors are a group of twenty Year 6 pupils who have been trained to support younger children within school. Peer Mentors provide advice and guidance whilst acting as a positive role model. The role of a Peer Mentor is to support, guide, develop resilience and character.
Peer Mentors have a positive impact on the mental health of both mentors and mentees, with benefits including improved self-esteem, increased empathy and reduced anxiety. Peer Mentors offer support through play, listening and giving younger children a safe space.
We meet on a regular basis to discuss new ways of supporting pupils in younger year groups, with fun and creative ideas. Peer Mentors interact with younger children on the Key Stage 1 playground.
These are the Peer Mentors for 2025/26:
We are currently working on a project that will help us to have ideas of different games to play with the children. We are designing our own playbook with lots of ideas for us to choose! We cannot wait to share it with them!
