Music at St Joseph's
At St Joseph's we are passionate about music and we aim for students to be happy, enthusiastic and eager learners. We believe that our students should be inspired by music and have opportunities to participate in a variety of musical experiences.
Our music curriculum is designed to develop a love of music, musical knowledge and skills. Through the Charanga programme, the students have an understanding of what music is through listening and responding activities, singing, playing interactive games based on musical elements and evaluating music styles.
In Key Stage 2, students are given opportunities to participate in a variety of musical experiences such as a school choir, school orchestra and weekly instrumental lessons with a specialist teacher.
Musician of the Month
Each month we will focus on a different musician and explore a variety of musical styles from around the world. Currently we are exploring musicians in Ireland and the UK; this enables the students to broaden their understanding of a variety of musical genres internationally.
See below for the musicians we have learnt about so far this academic year.
